A Critical Discourse Analysis of Current Far-Right Discourses, using the example of the Construction of the Left-Green Milieu and its Impact

Abstract

Language influences interpersonal relationships and thus has a significant impact on society. Against the backdrop of rising right-wing extremism, this study examines the role that right-wing extremist discourses play in this phenomenon through their construction of the left-wing and green milieu. The results of the critical discourse analyses at various levels of discourse show that far-right discourse connects with the hegemonic discourse and brings about a shift in what is considered normal politically and socially. Central to this are the evocation and delegitimization of the left-green milieu and its content.
