This paper examines the influence of digital inequality on the political participation of low-income people in Germany. It shows that lack of access to digital technologies, low digital skills and the spread of disinformation are key barriers to political participation. Groups of people who are particularly affected are thus doubly disadvantaged – both socially and digitally. Finally, practical approaches are presented on how digital participation and democratic involvement can be improved.
