Dieser Beitrag setzt sich mit Sexualisierungsprozessen in El Arenal, Mallorca auseinander. Dabei wird auf die Hintergründe von Mobilität und körperlicher Freizügigkeit der verschiedenen beteiligten Akteure eingegangen und deren Verwebungen mit globalen Kapitalströmen analysiert. Einerseits bezieht sich dies auf deutsche Tourist*innen, die am sogenannten „Ballermann“ einen Ausbruch aus ihrem Alltag suchen, wozu die Sexualisierung des Selbst oder des Gegenübers ein Freiheitsgefühl hervorruft. Dies wird insbesondere anhand von pornografischer und obszöner materieller Kultur deutlich. Dem gegenüber stehen die Lebensrealitäten derer, die Teil des lokalen Sexangebotes sind: aus Westafrika stammende Frauen, deren Reise nach Mallorca nicht dem Urlaub und der Alltagsflucht dient, sondern der Suche nach einem besseren Leben.
