Aims & Scope

The International Journal for Research in Learning Disabilities (IJRLD), a peer-reviewed annual publication, is founded and sponsored by the International Academy for Research in Learning Disabilities (IARLD). It focuses on research about barriers to learning present in reading, writing, spelling, or doing mathematical calculations, as well as related difficulties in the acquisition, retention, application, and demonstration of knowledge and skills.

As an international journal, the IJRLD recognizes that definitions of learning disabilities vary across countries, professional traditions, and educational systems. Accordingly, the journal adopts a broad perspective on learning disabilities while maintaining a primary focus on substantial and persistent barriers to learning and competence development.

The journal welcomes contributions from a wide range of disciplines, including special education, psychology, educational psychology, neuroscience, speech and language sciences, medicine, counseling, social work, sociology, criminology, and related fields. Topics of interest include the nature, causes, identification, assessment, prevention, and remediation of learning difficulties, as well as evidence-based interventions and practices that improve outcomes for children, adolescents, and adults.

The IJRLD publishes quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, single-case, experimental, longitudinal, interdisciplinary, and review studies that advance scientific knowledge and professional practice in the field of learning disabilities.
