Das vergessene Fachgebiet Afrikanistik an der Universität Marburg

Abstract

In the work A History of African Linguistics, published in 2019 by Ekkehard Wolff, Roland Kießling describes the development and current situation of African studies in German-speaking countries on two pages (33-35). All currently existing institutes are discussed and the professors teaching there are named, but the former Department of African Studies at Philipps University in Marburg is not mentioned. Unfortunately, it is increasingly falling into oblivion, and with it an important part of the history of our subject.
