A master's thesis (Brütsch, 2024), presented here in abbreviated form, examined didactic decision-making processes for writing-based learning in science lessons in the 5th grade. Interviews with nine teachers revealed that writing is primarily employed for documentation purposes, with cognitive strategies rarely being promoted. Didactic decisions are often based on experience and collaboration. Targeted further training and subject-specific didactic support are needed.
