Abstract (english): A multimodal approach in literary didactics: Social-web literature and the web series DRUCK

Narratives that originated from social media and display literary aesthetics use multimodal codes and they evoke non-linear reading processes within the participatory culture. This article presents the approach of a ‘virtual authorship’ within the dispositive of the Social Web. After that, teaching goals for integrating social web literature into literature classes are developed and discussed in relation to different disciplines. The article offers first suggestions for a multimodal curriculum that focuses on the pupils’ ability dimensions within the media-related participatory culture. Subsequently, a systematisation of studies on the culture of reception as it is displayed by teenagers and adolescents within the narrative environment of the social web is given. Three literary case studies will be introduced and connected to the given teaching goals: Patrick Salmen’s self-staging as an author, using short prose works within Facebook, the transmedia narration of the online youth web series DRUCK that invites prosumers to become a part of the complex storyworld, and a suggestion for using social media platforms like Instagram to support the pupils’ understanding of follow-up communication.
ER -
